Figs after Easter

10 May

a.k.a. Cupcake lesson FOUR

I know I know, Easter has come and gone, but I realised I hadn’t shared my cupcake creations for Easter / Spring with you yet! And it’s still spring (although judging from the weather, you’d think it’s fall allready). So here’s some sunshine and smiles for you, Enjoy!

An excellent fluff shaver

8 Feb

* A paper tissue hid in your washing and now your black dress pants have white fluff all over! *

You know the problem, right? We all have it 😉

Here’s (one of) my casualties. I use it as a ballet-short to put over tights, but yes, it is in fact underwear.

Not a pretty sight…

I stumbled upon this little gadget in the shops yesterday: “the fluff remover”

I remember my mom used to have one of these, to bring our uniform skirts back to life. And at €1,99 (Kruidvat), I just had to have my own fluff shaver.

And… works like a charm!

Arty nails

21 Jan

You like doing nail art? But need some inspiration?

This is where you go!

Beautylish.com collected some of the greatest (and prettiest) nails on the web.

I’ll definitly be trying the newspaper nails and marble art.

Have you tried any of these?

Cupcake lesson ONE

12 Sep

Wow, seems like my last blogpost dates back a few ages. I have been superbusy: moving, changing jobs and organising an event… I did manage to get some very purrrrdy nailpolishes (GOSH! CATRICE!) to try out and review. And some other stuff that you will see passing by. Some day. When I get to it.

But first I just need to brag a little bit with my accomplishment of tonight.

I went to my very first cupcake-lesson! My classmates and myself colored decorating fondant, rolled it, pushed out nice shapes with a cookie cutter and started some serious decorating. The brave ones (yes, myself included) ended up doing elaborate sculptures.

So, Tadaaaa!

From left (under) to right (upper), in order of construction:

Starry night, birthday crown, pink/yellow flower, yellow flowers, pacman and friends, cat and mouse

The ones on the left are beginner work, not much to say about that. I actually ate the crown cupcake the second I came home, just to get it out of my sight.

The flowers are both pretty and elegant. And fairly easy to make. I LOVE the leaves, those are made with an aid (that I need to get for myself).

Both DIY cupcakes on the right took some time to make. Especially when the fondant started sticking to my fingers. But I do love my Pacman and kittycat! I’m not sure I will be able to eat them. Enjoy!

Are you a fan of decorating cupcakes, even now the general cupcake craze has cooled down a bit?

Are you able to eat them after you spend so much time and work on them?

Tell me!

Xoxo, your domestic goddess.

Chocolate-cranberry muffins

24 Aug

Wiii, I am feeling like quite the domestic goddess. Today I made chocolate & cranberry muffins!

I used a marble cake recipe, but added extra cacao and dried cranberries, put the cake dough in a muffin/cupcake tin and baked it in the oven for a short while.

Here’s the result!

Nom Nom Nom!

DIY: the quiche

13 Aug

What you need:

– Ready made quiche crust

– Any filling you like. I used 1/2 butternut squash, 2 carrots, 1 shallot, 1 courgette, 1/4 broccoli and some soy chunks. You can add bacon or other meats, but that’s not my kinda thing.

– 3 eggs

– Some milk and double cream (I didn’t really measure it)

– Cheese (I used Emmental)

– Herbs and spices

How you do it:

Stick the crust in a round cake tray, pierce slightly with a fork. Sauté or blanch the veggies, throw in the soy, season with whatever spices you want. Put the filling in the crust. Mix the eggs, milk and double cream until it’s a bit foamy. Pour into the tray and cover with cheese. Place in a preheated oven (200°C) for 20-30 minutes. Bon appétit!
